Professor Robert Bontempo

Professor Robert Bontempo received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Illinois, where his dissertation was funded by the MacArthur Foundation. He has been Fellow at the Stanford Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, and has been teaching at the Columbia Business School’s MBA, Phd, and Executive Programs since 1989. His research has been published in a wide variety of journals in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.

Bob’s perspectives on management have been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and The Economist. Professor Bontempo is the Faculty Director of the Columbia Business School’s Executive Program in Persuasion and Influence. He is a leading advisor to senior executives worldwide, and his recent consulting clients include senior executives at Goldman Sachs, the United Nations, and the U.S. State Department.

In addition to winning Columbia’s award for Outstanding Leadership in the Classroom, Professor Bontempo has been named by Businessweek magazine as one of the top MBA professors in the U.S.
